ELEMENTARY UNIT

Inspired by many Baltimore City Public Schools’ leadership in the Black Lives Matter Week of Action, I designed and taught four lessons that focus on its national core values: Youth Activism, Diverse Families, Unapologetically Black, Valuing Black Women, and LGBTQA-Affirming.

Lesson 1: Restorative Justice
Standard: NVAS :Cn10.1.6a – Generate a collection of ideas reflecting current interests and concerns that could be investigated in art-making.

Lesson 2: Youth Activism
Standard: NVAS:Cr1.2.4a – Collaboratively set goals and create artwork that is meaningful and has purpose to the makers.
